西南科技大学本科教育源于1978年，现有在校普通全日制本科学生2.5万余人，在工学、农学、理学、经济学、法学、文学、管理学、教育学等8大学科门类，设有67个本科专业，其中重本专业25个，新办专业19个，可授予双学位专业13个，辅修专业26个。

     Southwest University of Science and Technology is a full-time, multi-disciplinary national university with over 50 years. The university is supported by the central, provincial and municipal government in common. But it is mainly under the supervision of Sichuan provincial government. The university is one of 14 universities, which are the key universities in the western part of China approved by the Ministry of Education. It is one of 67 experimental universities offering distance education program.
